Monthly Poem in Earth Language (Oct. 1999)

I wrote this for the Halloween Month.

Here are 17 names of extinct wild grasses which the environmental department of Japan announced this year. Each name was written with the EL phonetics for the Japanese name and its Japanese Katakana(which most of you can't read) also the alphabets of its Latin name, corresponding to each other. The definition writing was also done the same way: EL, the meanings by Japanese and English on each line.

Please read the names aloud for their spirits, learning the EL phonetics( you can easily master these symbols).

今回はハロウィーンの月にちなんで書いてみました。日本の環境庁自然保護局野生生物科が今年発表した絶滅野草の日本語名が表音文字で並びます。それらは「草の名」を示す類別括弧を伴う表音括弧で挟まれていて、その他は表意文字です。カナに対応させながら声を出して読み、表音文字を検討してみてください。

ほろびた命の魂たちよ、今どこでどんなふうにわたしたちを見てるの？
The spirits of extinct lives, from where and how are you watching us now?
