Sacred Run February 11th 2006
Sacred Run is a long distance running event for Mother Earth and Lives.
It was started by Dennis Banks 27years ago, inspired by the past Native American
tradition
of running great distances to connect people’s hearts by carrying
messages.
(According to the native’s expression, in EL,‘Turtle’was
used for the name
of the continent, instead of American)
セクレッド・ランは、母なる地球とそこに生きるいのちのための長距離走です。
デニス･バンクスによって２７年前に始まりましたが、彼は、昔のアメリカ大陸先住民の走者が
メッセージを運んで人々の心をつないだ長距離走の伝統から霊感をえたのでした。
(アメリカ大陸のかわりに、地球語では先住民ふうに亀の大陸と表現しています)
Participants of this event have run in many places around the world.
This year, concerned about advanced violence and for sustainable environment,
they started the running in San Francisco on February 11th.
Then they will continue the chain of running for 70 days to get to Washington
D.C.
across this continent.
(Abbreviations were used for vocal names of Washington
and Colombia, but not for state and district)
このイベントの参加者たちは、これまで世界中の多くの場所で走ってきました。
今年は、暴力の拡大に思案し、持続する環境を思いながら、２月１１日
サンフランシスコから走り始めました。そして彼らは、大陸横断してワシントンＤＣまでの
７０日間、走るリレーをつづけています。
(ワシントンとＤＣのＣｏｌｏｍｂｉａには省略記号をつかっています)
Before its start, there was a sunrise ceremony on Alcatraz Island.
Around 200 participants rode on the ferryboat to the island in the darkness;
and cerebrated the bright sunrise in the ceremony. The runners looked calm
and vigorous.
この開始前に、アルカトラズ島で日の出の儀式がありました。
約２００人の参加者が暗闇のなか島にフェリーで渡り、
儀式の中でまばゆい日の出を祝いました。
走者たちは、しずかに意欲溢れているように見えました。

２００６年元日の私たちの行事
Walking and praying to the Pacific Ocean on New Year’s Day
is our traditional event for more than ten years.
We ten friends walked through Golden Gate Park,
and stood on the beach under a heavy cloudy sky.
元日ウォークと海参りは、１０年以上続いてる私たちの恒例行事です。
十人の仲間がゴールデン・ゲート公園を通り抜けて厚い曇り空の浜辺に立ちました。
After a short ritual, each one prays and throws a coin
to the goddess of the ocean, and runs back without looking back.
When I was praying closing my eyes, what a surprise,
a big wave suddenly covered all my feet and legs below the knees!
Did the ocean purify me?
短い儀式の後､それぞれお祈りをし、海の女神にコインを投げて、
後ろを返り見ないで走りもどります。
私が目をとじてお祈りしていたとき､大きな波が突然
私の足と膝から下全部を包みました！
海がお清めをしてくれたのでしょうか？
